Made by more than 500 artisans, not a factory.
Topaca is run by a Maya family. Our artisans work from home in their own communities, from the towns around Lake Atitlán to Chichicastenango, Quetzaltenango and Totonicapán, with steady work all year under fair trade practices.
Many pieces are one of a kind, made from repurposed huipiles (blouses) and cortes (skirts).

Wholesale Guatemalan handicrafts: frequently asked questions
Do you sell wholesale only?
Yes. TOPACA is a wholesale supplier of handmade Guatemalan handicrafts. The minimum order is $200, and most items are ordered from 12 to 100 pieces each. You can mix products from every category in one order.
Do you ship and export internationally?
Yes. We ship and export worldwide and have sent orders to stores in more than 31 countries on 6 continents. Every quote includes shipping, and we agree with you on the easiest way to pay and ship.
Who makes your products?
Everything is handmade in Guatemala by more than 500 Maya artisans and homeworkers and their families; more than half of them have worked with us for over 20 years. They live around Lake Atitlán, Sololá, Chimaltenango, Sacatepéquez and the highlands of Chichicastenango, Quetzaltenango and Totonicapán. We work under fair trade practices and build long-term relationships.
How are your textiles and bead work made?
Many of our bags and accessories are made from huipiles — blouses Maya women weave on a backstrap loom — and from cortes and jaspe (ikat) fabric woven on foot looms. Our bead work is glass beaded by hand, one bead at a time, by artisans in the towns around Lake Atitlán. Because every piece is handcrafted, colors and patterns vary slightly.
Do you design and produce your own products?
Yes. TOPACA is a Maya family business founded in 1986 by Tomás and Rosa. We design, produce, wholesale and export our own Guatemalan handicrafts, working directly with the artisans who make them.
How do I place an order?
Send us the product codes (for example TPC-W11) and the quantity of each by WhatsApp (+502 5552-5342) or email ([email protected]). We reply with a quote that includes shipping. There is no online checkout; production starts with a 50% deposit and usually takes 2–3 weeks.
What are Guatemalan worry dolls?
Worry dolls (muñecas quitapenas) come from a Maya tale: before going to sleep you tell each tiny doll one worry and place it under your pillow, and by morning the doll has taken your worries away. Ours are handmade by Maya artisans and sold wholesale by the dozen and by the gross.
Can I visit your stores in Guatemala?
Yes. We have two stores: Calle Real 1-40, Zona 2, Panajachel, on Lake Atitlán (Monday to Friday, 10 am – 6 pm), and 5 Av. 6-38, Zona 1, Chichicastenango (Thursday and Sunday, 11 am – 4 pm).
